Katie is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Yorkville University where she has covered an array of theoretical orientations. As a student, Katie will be seeing clients under the supervision of Jason Koenigbaur, Registered Psychotherapist. Katie consults with supervision on a weekly basis to ensure therapy is effective, professional and ethical.
Katie often views client issues through a cognitive behavioral lens but recognizes the need for client’s to explore their unconscious experiences. Some clients may desire a deeper understanding of themselves while some may have solutions in mind; Katie supports both. Her main goal is to create a space where exploration, conversation and understanding are paramount as these processes will open the door for change.
Pairing instruction with intention, Katie dedicates time to helping others in Newmarket by volunteering with community meal programs. She has also co-facilitated therapy in a group setting on a voluntary basis. Katie values and respects all genders, sexualities, ethnicities and religions creating an accepting and supportive environment for everyone.
Laying the foundation for her career, Katie will work collaboratively with clients and utilize techniques that can best facilitate change. Katie believes that all pain has meaning but it is up to the individual to decide if it inhibits us or encourages us to grow. Katie looks forward to being a part of your journey!
