Working with clients and their bodies is my passion. I have 20 years of experience as an RMT, and over the past 2 years have worked closely with mental health professionals in private practice. My bodywork focus is traditional RMT Massage integrated with CranioSacral Therapy, and most recently Somatic Experiencing (SE™). 

Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a body-oriented approach to healing pain (trauma) and stress disorders. I am currently an Intermediate Level Practitioner in Training and offer sessions online with clients.

SE™ is a wonderful exploration of the nervous system, guiding clients to increase their tolerance level to challenging body sensations and suppressed emotions. In particular, SE™ provides a way to slow down and build capacity within the nervous system, and encourage the resolution of blocked fight, flight or freeze energy.

Since there are recommendations for RMTs to hold off on bodywork at this time due to COVID-19 concerns, I offer SE™ sessions online. This is a wonderful way to engage in a somatic (which means "body") therapy, without being "in person".


What does a typical session look like?

This session is done via Zoom (easy to download onto your phone, device or computer) or Skype, as I need face-to-face contact in order to support you to the best of my abilities.

I suggest finding a quiet, undisturbed place where you can be with yourself in this experience.

The session is led by you and what your nervous system needs .. what is your goal or intention for the session? That will be our guide.

While it is difficult to pin down the exact flow, here are some ideas on what we may explore ..

Typically, we will always begin the session with some orienting .. which is simply getting to know each other, and the environment in which we find ourselves. It is the “where you are at in the moment” connection to yourself, your body, and your nervous system.

The session will also involve some education about the nervous system, and together we will map where you are at in the moment .. this can help you track the different states of the Autonomic Nervous System, and how move between the different layers. This is especially important for feeling "grounded" in your body and regulated.

We will possibly explore sensations, images, memories, thoughts, beliefs, body gestures and postures .. the body is a wise healer and will guide us to where stress and tension is and wants to be supported and released.

There is no rush to this process. It is simply time to be with the body and hear its wisdom.


What can this session help with?

SE™ can help move you from dysregulation to regulation during times of stress. The nervous system knows how to balance itself, and SE™ can help this process along, gently and slowly.

This session can help if you are experiencing:

  • Stress, Pain and Tension
  • Insomnia
  • Anxious and/or Flat Feelings In Your Body
  • Feeling Like Your System is Stuck “On” or “Off”

I am excited to explore with you, and help you to move towards a more balanced system overall ..

Sessions are 50 minutes in length at a fee of $88. They are not however covered by RMT insurance.
