Clare specializes in trauma and PTSD in children and adults, and finds that the smaller traumas form our past and often hold us in behaviour patterns, without us even being aware. She has worked extensively with children who have experienced traumas such as bullying and divorce, and who demonstrate behaviours as a result. She has also worked with adults with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions and spiritual/meaning crises. Her experience also includes working with adolescents and adults with high functioning autism and Asperger's.
Clare believes it is important to include all aspects of the self - physical, emotional, mind and spiritual (spiritual as requested by client), and that our beliefs are very powerful in creating our environment.
Clare's foundational approach is informed by humanistic psychology (unconditional acceptance and authenticity). She uses aspects of cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness, somatic processing approaches, energy work and EMDR with clients of all ages.
