Training & Experience
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. As well as my Masters of Education, I have received training in EMDR therapy, an evidence-based treatment for trauma; mindfulness therapy, a treatment to reduce stress; as well as addictions counselling training and dissociation treatment training.
I specialize in the treatment of trauma-related issues such as PTSD, complex PTSD (childhood or ongoing abuse or neglect), Addictions, Anxiety and Depression. My philosophy is that the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of a person all work together as an integrative whole and are ideally treated from this perspective in order to restore balanced living.
I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness, along with a range of other therapeutic components that are research informed. I use a psychodynamic approach that draws upon aspects of these therapies in order to help people come to understand what interferes and blocks their mental health and wellbeing. My goal is to help people resolve distressing symptoms, heal from root causes of issues, and guide them in their journey to mental health.
