Hello and welcome, my name is Andrew Garnet. I am a Registered Social Worker, in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I have been in the Social Services/Social Work field for the past 15+ years. I have been practicing Clinical Social Work for the majority of those years. I have worked and gained experience in a variety of settings including Hospitals, Colleges and Universities, the Government of Nunavut and the Canadian Armed Forces. My experience and expertise lies in the form of trauma work. I am trained in various evidence-based modalities that are effective in working with trauma, such as EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Furthermore, I have training in CBT, SFBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and the Gottman Method. I take an eclectic approach in working with clients who has various mental health challenges including but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Childhood Trauma, Complex Trauma, PTSD, BPD, Relationship Difficulties, Family Problems, and Work-Related Stress.

My approach to counselling is a collaborative, respectful and non-judgemental one. I am client-centred, empathic, warm and supportive. My focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship so you can feel comfortable, safe and secure throughout your counselling journey. I honour and respect the process and courage that it may have taken to seek out support, therefore, I value the dignity, diversity and individuality that you bring into the counselling relationship.
