Assertiveness Training for Men

The Newmarket Therapy Centre will be offering a one day workshop for men on Assertiveness Training. The purpose of the workshop is to give men the skills and tools to become effective communicators and how to cope better with strong emotions such as anger. Men who find themselves either shutting down or acting aggressively when communicating with others will find this workshop very beneficial. Studies have shown adopting an “assertive communication style,” which is based on expressing feelings confidently while respecting the feelings of others helps improve mood and increase self-esteem. Men who learn to be assertive feel better about themselves because their spouses, children, friends and colleagues respect and admire their confidence and can feel closer to them.

An assertive man is a confident man. He knows how to speak up for himself, sets healthy boundaries, and remains calm in stressful situations. The training will give you all of the tools and strategies to become assertive so you can start transforming your life and relationships. The training is based on a Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) model of therapy where you will be able to practice your new learned skills within the group and get the support of like minded men.
